Hello all .... newbie here, soon to be moving to FL and WILL buy trailerable sailboat ... have Horizon Cat on my mind ......
1) In reality .. how long from on trailer to rigged?
2) Would one have to be nuts to consider sailing one from FL to Bahamas ... what are her limits?
Thanks in advance!

I have sat on 'em at boat shows but have not sailed the Horizon Cat. But I like this boat. A lot.

As for rigging I'd say an hour and half to start and whittled down to 40 minutes when you get good at it. If the boat is parked on a trailer at the same place maybe all overhead wires can be avoided and just park fully rigged on the trailer. Then scoot her into the salt and away you sail.

As for as to the islands from Florida I think it is more a matter of the skippers expertise then the boat itself. I don't believe I would have any problems with the boat...it's navigation and current and tides that I'm rusty on. No salt water around me. I'd try it.

If one reads about the 'Eclipse' adventures we have a fellow who sail his Eclipse at sea and makes a pretty good case for the 'worth' of his boat. Interesting.

Hello,  I have a HC and on trailer to rigged time would be 20 min max.  All there is to do is to rise the mast and attach the forward stay.  Boat comes with an easy mast raising system which I never use.  It is easy to lift by hand.  If you are elderly this would be very easy to use.
