Question - I was out sailing the other day, and I saw a boat out there that was sailing with only his genoa up.  Is this possible/recommended on the Compact 16?  Could I sail her with only my genoa or jib?
Thanks,
Chad

There is a topic in the 19 form "sailing" in a gust" that addresses this topic.

Sure why not sail on just the headsail? After years of trying to dip my Com-Pac 19's rail in the water I finally did it on just the 155% head sail only. On purpose. What a rush to wash out the cockpit with a fine wash of shipped water. We were buttoned up enough just in case. I had my sister-in-law along for the ride. Georgiann committed suicide 09-October-2006. A couple of shots on that fine windy day.

skip.

Note the spilt companionway drop board cut in half horizontally and on a 45 deg to shed rain water. Stores much more easily.

Do it all the time, and sometimes with a makeshift pole.
