Attention- all hands on deck:
Well, not really but to those who have been following Jessica Watson's progress on her site www.jessicawatson.com.au,  it's an exciting time. After a solo unassisted non-stop circumnavigation, she's due back in Sydney, Australia on May 15th. I've been following her voyage somewhat via her site and reading her blog. Quite an accomplishment...for a 16 year old!

I've been following her.  I think, If I read the conversion right she should be home about 8:30 Friday night my time.  I believe it is going to be such an event in Sidney that they are going to set the time and she will finish to it.  Hope they broadcast the finish live in the U. S.

yes, according to one of her last posts, she could arrive earlier but the 15th has been set because of the arrival party. I had to laugh: on one of her recent blogs she states that she plans on finishing school and getting her drivers license as 2 things she'll do when shore-side. She's single-handed around the planet yet can't legally drive a car! Grog to ya, Jess! if you read this!

Been following her story too and wow, this is so impressive it's unbelieveable.

She has more guts and strength within than most of us ever hope to have.

I've seen nothing about TV appearances here in the US, but she's obbiously a celebrity down under.

Well, Jess arrived safe and sound and right on time. A relative suggested that I do a trip like this but I repllied that my wife probably wouldn't approve of me sailing around the world with a 16 year old female. Come to think of it, that would drive me crazy!

Abby, who was also trying for the record, and is a bit younger than Jesse, had equipment problems and had to come in to Cape Town, South Africa.  She is going to continue and her last post was a video of sea trialing all the fixes.  She's going to try for a one-stop record.  I think that no matter what the record is or isn't, or how long it stands, it's an amazing accomplishment for these young women.  Neither of them is old enough to drive, but they are both old enough to fly airplanes, as well as sail around the world alone!  Abby is also an accomplished gymnast.  Abby's brother Zac had the record that Jessica just broke.
