Hello all!

Recently, December 2009, I purchased a Compac 19 and have been enjoying it quite a bit.  I live in Sarasota and mainly sail the bay here.  Would not mind taking a little trip up into Tampa Bay sometime though :)

She is a nice boat and a step up for me.  Even though I have owned and sailed boat just as long she is my first real comfortable cruising boat.  All my others have been more small craft beachable designs; Hobies, Prindles, Lasers, a Wayfarer, and some other daysailors along the way.  Still kind of working out how I feel about needing a motor versus a paddle or oars :)

I added a few small touches at Christmas as a present to her but I am looking to continue to upgrade her as time goes by.  The sails are not stock but at least they are in decent shape and will last me long enough to get the money together for some quality canvas.

Did not come with a trailer, but it was such a good deal that I bought an aluminum trailer that someone needed to sell badly at Christmas time and fitted it our for her to ride on.  Thanks to the help of this forum I was able to get all the bunks adjusted before I even dropped the trailer in the water and she fit like a glove :)

Looking forward to being a part of the discussions here on the forum!

Welcome Cleric.  Tell us a little about the 19.  Year, options, name, etc.  You are right about the great feedback from the fine people on this site.  If you need information or advice all you have to do is ask.

No sailing in WI today.  It is raining non-stop.

Peter,
I have a 81 19 and live in Palm Harbor, FL. We should meet up sometime around Egmont Key at the mouth of Tampa Bay (I'm guessing about 1/2 way). I love the 19!!!!!!

Also, I had new sails made from Masthead in St. Pete. They are a com pac dealer as well so they know the boats. However since my boat is older he didn't have all the measurements he needed on hand. Now compac just placed an order for some sails for older 19s using mine as the template. I'm kind excited about that.

I got a
5 oz dacron main w/ 1 reefing point & 4 battons
5 oz dacron 100 jib
4 oz dacron 150 jib (complete w/ hanks and tale tails)
all for $900.  They make all the difference in the world.
Now that compac has the template they will have them in stock so I would guess you could get them cheaper than that.
What year is your boat? do you have the bow sprit &/or a roller furling? If so you will need a different jib.

Lets meet up sometime, We have the best boats and are in the best place to sail them!!!!

Wow that is really good pricing on the sails.  I am interested in the fully battened mainsail that potcake boy has on his 19.  I am not interested in changing over to mid-boom sheeting with a traveller like he has but I like the way a fully battened mainsail works for the boat.  Used to having one on all of my beach boats that I have had.  I would love to have some new sails on the boat :)  I really like the way that tankbark sails look with the Compac's but I don't think I want the added cost.

Would love to do a meet up!  I am just swamped with work right now.  I have a hard enough time just getting home to the wife and child :)
