Hey everyone, I am currently in Bimini with my girlfriend on our 1989 CP 23 "Tura Lura".  We trailered from Texas to Palm Beach about 2 weeks ago and made the crossing on Saturday.  We will be in the Bahamas for a few months and will be keeping a blog here:

The crossing was bumpy, but the CP 23 can take a lot more punishment than I can and held up fine =)

Nick,

Your last post on your blog was a week ago - how's the trip going?

Man, I'm going to have to do this (his) trip soon in my 19 maybe next Jan-Feb.  I've been planning it for years in my ever so infertile mind.

Nick 23 WOW!! Now your talking. That's something I always dreamed of doing in the CP-19. You DA Man!
What have you packed aboard for supplies, and crossing the Golf current would be cool. Navigating both with electronics and dead reckoning from the chart. I'll figure out some way log-in and keep track of the progress.

Way to go Nick and Melissa,

Ah, if the Admiral was only willing.......She'll fly over and do a bareboat charter on a little more comfortable boat, but not willing to cross the Gulf Stream in my 23.

The blog site got me to thinking, though.  I maintain a truck powerful enough to tow my 23, and I consider it marginal at that. I only plan to tow a couple of times a year but the rest of the time I'm saddled with the lower gas mileage of the truck.  My truck isn't that bad on fuel, but it might be nice to get something more fun to drive, however I don't need another vehicle clogging up the drive way, insurance, tag and all that.  I noticed Nicks boat hooked up to a UHaul truck.  Reserve a one way in, and a one way out, problem solved.  Pay for the rental with the fuel savings the rest of the year.  Here comes that two seat sports car................
