we have a condo in perdido key just wondering if there were any other compac owners in the area besides capt mike.
i own a legacy and do a lot of sailing in the ole river, perdido and pensacola bay.  only have about 10 trips out under my belt.
sure would like to meet an experience sailor who would take me out in the gulf and give me some experience in the open water

thanks

Wish I was still down there, Greg, I would love to sail on your Legacy with you. I lived there for most of my life, but now reside in the mountains of East Tennessee. I bought a '78 CP16 winter before last and have been enjoying her on these beautiful mountain lakes here. I love this country where I'm living and I'm not complaining, but I'd love to taste the salt spray of the Gulf again. I wouldn't be too worried about venturing out into the Gulf in fair conditions. Just watch the weather and pick a good window, and make sure you can heave to and shorten sail if the need should arise. You'll do fine.

Oh man, yeah! I've got a ton of pics posted at http://picasaweb.google.com/adifferentdrummer. Check it out. You might want to haul up here and do some sailing, too! The lake where I sail most often has great ramps with good anchorages all around, free launch and parking, picnic tables, barbecue grills, and even a couple of nice, clean bath houses with hot showers.  It's called Douglas lake; over 43 miles long with 513 miles of shoreline and about 28,420 acres of water surface. Google it... and if you need any more specifics, you can contact me directly at adifferent_drummer (you know, at yahoo dot com).

awesome place man i would love to come up there.  used to have lots of free time but this bad economy has me bowed under from daylight to dark
when i make the turn i plan on traveling some with my legacy or eclispe or horizon cat if i move up to a bigger boat.  thanks for pictures

Can this be real, A.D.D.? There must not be much straight shoreline. Sounds like my kind of lake, lots and lots of shoreline exploring to be had. I'm lucky to have several nice lakes and one with excellent, reliable wind for sailing but none nearby like that. I envy you your sailing grounds.

Wait a minute. Isn't that why I have a Trailer Sailer. Roadtrip.

Really though, great looking places to sail for both of you guys.

Milt,
Have you ever shortened sail on your 16?  If so, is it hard to do?

No offense meant to anyone but please don't hijack this thread.  Perhaps a new thread on reefing in the CP16 section would be more appropriate?

It's on my bucket list to visit my buddy in Gulfport MS  and do some sailing down there.
