Just wanted to sign on and say hi.  I am a new member, but long time peruser of this forum thanks for getting me on board.  I have a 2005 Com-Pac Eclipse and sail on Lake Lanier, Ga.  For those of you who were lamenting about not sailing on Thanksgiving I was going to post my chilly pics of my "Black Friday" sail.  Why fight in the mall when you can be sailing? I'm glad to be on board and hope to figure out the gallery soon.

Welcome aboard-and nice boat!  I have NOT personally seen an Eclipse but they look quite nice in the pictures I've seen.
Compac still makes the same high quality boats they have for years and the Eclipse is more or less a newer version of the venerable CP19.

You are lucky to still be sailing!  Maybe a Christmas sail is in order, too?

Edited to say "NOT personnally seen and Eclipse..."

Welcome aboard.  Did you have as much wind on Lanier as we did on Hartwell on Black Friday.  It was one of the better sails I had this year.  My CP23 hit 7.6 mph on the gps for a good while reaching across the lake.

Forget the Gallery. It'll never work.

Here is how I posted a Picture in a POST.

Hey!! it worked from my Photobucket thingy. First time. How did I do that again???

Write the CPYOA post. Then post and then go back and hit 'Modify message'. And then minimize to the bottom of the screen for later use.

The picture I want to post is loaded in Photobucket. You'll have to join up for Photobucket.

I click on the box of the Photobucket image I want to post. You'll see a box that you'll need to check mark under the picture your working with. Do it and mouse down till you see the drop down menu appear.

And click on the 'Direct Link' in the drop down menu under the picture clicked on.
I don't know if I need to do this but I also go up and click on the 'copy' box under 'Edit' in my tool bar as a precaution.

And then go back to maximize the "Modify Message" parked at the bottom of the screen.

In the tool bar above the post is a "Insert Image" box to click on. It's right next to the round 'pinwheel' thing.  Click on the "Image Insert" above and the cursor is a blinking between the two 'Insert image' ----> like this.   [blinking curser] in your post...I right click the mouse and click on 'Paste'. The 'Direct Link' code appears between the  [ and the  ]  and when I click on post and the post appears with the picture.

Why didn't you guys tell me that 5 years ago? Woopy. I know you tried but was too dumb.
Good Luck skip.

The best thing about this whole site is that one can modify your post till you get it right. Just the way you like it. Thank the 'administrator' for that.

OR Here is about the same thing but said a bit differently

Here is a test for posting. IT MAY BE MORE CLEAR THEN THE GUIDED PROVIDED BY skip.

I started the verbage of this post. Modify this Post and minimize this post.
I logged on to my Photobucket.
I select the picture in Photobucket I want to post by placing the cursor on this picture. A drop down menu happens.
I put the cursor on the box below the picture and above the drop down menu. And left clicked this box. The pic is highlighted.
I left click 'Direct Link' in the drop down menu. Then go up and under 'Edit' in the tool bar I left click 'Copy'.
I maximize my 'Modify Message' parked at the bottom of the 'Start' tool bar, or whatever it's called.
I place the cursor and left click within the verbage of the post where I want to place a picture from my Photobucket.
I go up to the tool bar of the Modified Post Message.
I left click 'Image insert' above the post. That's the icon that looks like a framed pic of a yellow beach w/ trees in the back ground.
I see this [Img]winking cursor[Img] where I'm placing the picture. The cursor stays put and then...
I right click and then right click paste.
I see the 'Direct Link' code between these [img] [Img] things for all three pictures I'm posting out of Photobucket.
Each picture from Photobucket is posted one at a time.
I remember to un-click the check marked box under each posted picture. Otherwise the same picture will be posted again.
I click 'Save' and I should see three pictures plus this verbage in the post.
I kept modifying this post till I got it right. I took careful notes in order to provide this guide.
Took about an hour.
skip.

Welcome!  I considered an Eclipse in my evaluation stage, but my 23 came along at the right place, price and time so went that route.  But I like the Eclipse lines and I'm sure it is a well mannered vessel with the plumb bow.

Glad to read your water is up since the drought has abated.

Thanks guys!

BobK, Yes it was a thrill ride on black friday.  Got a little sun/wind burn on my cheeks.  I had a single reef in the main and started with no genoa (don't have a smaller jib) and had to furl it up on the roller furler from time to time. I consistently hit 5.5 Knts on Fri. and on a broad reach back to the slip the Raymarine showed 6.3knts for about two seconds several times as we fell forward off the crest of a wave, wish I could call it surfing, but not quite that impressive.

Excellent Post. Loved the pics, looks like a wonderful day on the water. And I see we share a Raymarine St-40 [or maybe it's a St-60?]
I see you let the teak go 'Ala Natural'. And label the halyard rope clutches. Whats the deal with the line going around the chainplate on the starboard side? That does not look right. I see split rings as well in the pins. I see the main is in 'Jiffy Reef' status. You use the furler to shorten sail? The center of effort raises this way. The only time I was able to put the rail in the water on my 19 was 155% lapper only, main was stowed on the boom on this day shown.

Some 92.4 foot deep. Great that's like the waters I sail on. Surfing at 5.5 knots, OH BOY!! Is this a man made lake/reservoir?
And report on sailing the Eclipse please.

skip. Just finished moving 14 1/2 inch of snow off the driveway and it's still snowing. Bent our cedars over and lost a few branches...Our 6th deepest snow since 1893? Or close to that early date.
You sir are a lucky sailor.

Welcome aboard Napier6,

I too have an Eclipse (2006).

I really like the boat for all my needs, easy to trailer, launch and retrieve.

I sail in the Pacific Ocean off the Ventura Marina Cost line of California.

I haven't heard if Com Pac has sold any more Eclipse as I have not seen any post for Eclipse beyond 2006 !

Really nice boat for trailer sailing.

Thanks Skip,   It is a Raymarine St-40, I like it but I toggle between the depth and knot functions and keep forgetting the other function paths.  I did print the cheat sheet off the Raymarine website, but it never makes it to the boat.

Oops- you noticed the teak.  I meant to trailer her home the entire first year, but was having too much fun sailing.  I did Cetol the cockpit floor grates but they aren't in any photos.  I must say I don't love the orange tint and will go with regular varnish from here out.  I am now beginning the (long put off) maintenance phase of ownership and plan to oil and varnish the teak.  There is so little that I want it to look good.  Since I stepped on the starboard hatch rail and split it it's next in line for work.    My other boat lives in the garage and is a 14' whitehall rowboat that is white on the outside and bright finished inside so I'll keep the brightwork to a minimum on the Eclipse.

The line going around the starboard chainplate is the starboard jib sheet.  It's definitely  not right.  It hung up and I had not repositioned it aft yet.
As far as rail down, It's close but not there.  Only two or three times, one last week after cleating the main sheet - just for a second, has the Eclipse put her rail in.  Usually a big gust then pops right back up.  I feel very good about the ballast in the keel!

As far as surfing, she won't at 5.5 but the seconds at 6.3 knots from the following sea was fun.  By the way Lake Lanier is a Corps of Eng. lake built in 1950's and has 692 mi. of shoreline.  The lake is about 113 - 120 feet deep over the Chatahoochee River, and 160 by the dam, but during our recent drought a lot of docks were high and dry.

Glenn,

I agree the Eclipse is a great boat.  I have been curious about the lack of Eclipse owners posting as I waited to join this forum.  Skylark is hull number 28.  I see a lot of emphasis on the Legacy, which is a nice looking boat as well. I thought there would be more of us (so you Eclipse lurkers out there please post).

Napier6,

Just as soon as I get a chance and the rain breaks and the weather warms back up to 75 degree's, I plan on giving my boat a good washing / waxing. That includes going back over the Teak with Teak oil.

If you have read some of my other post, I also plan on adding brakes to my trailer some time during the winter months.
