There is a fitting apparently made to hold the anchor shank in place. Screws to the bow pulpit and has tow ears each with a hole. I also drilled a hole in the anchor shank and inserted the quick release pin through the whole she-bang. The flukes of the anchor hang off the bow making anchor-launching real easy.
I'm glad I sail a Compac. Who knows what would've happened if I'd been aboard a Clorox bottle boat? Maybe taken the rig down, or worse- knocked over my cooler full of beer!

Holes ONLY through the ancillary things sticking above the deck proper. I will never drill, screw, bolt or fit anything NEW through the deck. No leaks that way. And I'm not going to hang the anchor from the bow pulpit. That looks so tacky. And why? Can't use the anchor in a hurry, right?

lol ... or even worser- you knocked over your open one...into the pile of empties!  :D

FWIW, I have a Bruce type anchor and leave it on the roller. I too drilled a hole through the shank of the anchor and pin the anchor to an existing hole in the tack fitting. For a pin, all I use is a trailer coupler lock pin. When I'm using the anchor, I store the pin by locking it around a stanchion.

Sherie, I rigged a topping lift for my 23/3.  It's handy for reefing, as well as for lowering the sail.  When I'm sailing, it's just tensioned enough to keep it off the sail.  I'm too short to even try to reach that pigail while sailing.  I decided on the topping lift after one trip with my brother and sister-in-law when we needed to reef and Brad just freed up the halyard before I had hold of the boom and almost dropped it on his wife's head!  We reefed with the boom in the cockpit and retensioned the halyard afterward.   Not pretty, but effective!  Now, if he does it again, the boom won't come all the way down!
