boom gooseneck?

so we are restoring a 1998 ComPac 16
but it has a FIXED height for the boom to the mast
(unusual for us)
so has anyone changed this to a boom gooseneck that slide
in the mast slot
yes
we know this will change the mainsail height dimensions
but since we need a new mainsail, we could accommodate this later.
the focus is on making the boom not fixed

Hey ameysails:
Have owned two C-16s and sailed on several more, all have had a gooseneck fitting that fit into the sail slot on the mast, allowing the boom to move up and down the mast.  Usually hoist the mainsail to the top of the mast (two blocked) and then use the downhaul on the gooseneck to tension the luff.

Ditto.  However, if  you are going to change out the gooseneck, why not look into the mastender system that Hutchins uses now.  It could make set up a lot easier.

Call Dwyer mast company and ask for the correct part for your 16.  Since the boom wasn't setup the way yours is when new, it's been modified so measure your hardware before asking Dwyer.

I think you want part # DH418 from this page, but again call them and ask.

You may also need an end plate but that depends on what you have now.
