CP-19 Height and Length on a Trailer

The Admiral said to go ahead and build your garage!

I own a 16 which fits nicely in my current garage, but now I get to build a storage shed/garage to store my sailboat and supplies.  How lucky can one man be - a good looking woman who lets me buy toys AND build a toybox!  I plan on making the garage large enough to accommodate a CP-19 - which I plan to buy in a year or so.  Yes I know it would be nice to build it big enough for a 23 footer, but that is getting a little too greedy.  Can anyone tell me what size door I should design into the garage to fit a 19 into it?  How about the overall length including the tongue  and swim ladder?

I appreciate the help, I'd rather pre-plan than remodel.

I will measure the width of my C19 over the weekend.

The easy rule of thumb is that anything road worth without
permits is under 8' 6" wide do a 9 ' width door will work.

Do you plan on keeping the mast on top of the boat when storing?
I would guestimate without tape measure in hand that you are looking at a 9' high door
also. In my last garage, I had 2 doors that were 12' high and 10' side which was very nice.

I will measure and let you know...

Thanks.  Yes, I would prefer to leave the mast in the transport position (and secured) rather than taking it off the boat every time it goes in the garage.  I agree that just about any door would work for the width, it is the length and height I am concerned about.  I can build it to any size, so if a 9 foot high door is cutting it too close I'll just frame it in for 10'.

Mike,

I just took my Com-Pac 19 out of storage today. The measurement from the ground to the top of the mast in the stored position is about 9'-0" taken at the bow pulpit. This height includes the height of the furled jib on top of the mast .

If you driveway has any angle to it I would go with a 10'-0" high door.

Hope this helps.

I measured the C19.

I have the mast on the bow and stern pulpit. From the ground with a small amount of angle on the tongue,
the top of the mast on the bow pulpit to the ground is 8' 2"

Meauring from the back of the rudder to the front of the tongue (depth of the garage), it was 25' 6"

The width was just about the full width of road approval, just under 8'6".

I think you are talking a 28' deep garage x 12' wide with 10' x 10' doors with a recommended height of 12 feet
(to make space for the overhead doors to fit the track in - They usually have about an 18" sweep at the top
of the track and some space for the automatic door closer chain + channel above the door
(have I been through before?)

Good luck enjoying the garage build process!!

Thanks for the great feedback.  I was roughing out the dimensions of the garage as 28' deep x 30' wide.  I was hoping to get away with 9' high doors, but it sounds like I'll be going with the 10' x 10' doors.

The doors hang down a little on the curve so it would be VERY close but the 9' doors
might work... I would find one and measure it!

Good luck with the build out. My garage was 36 deep and 26 wide,  13' high on the first floor and the second
floor was a gambel.. It was large and the neighbors less than happy...
