Just got a quote from Sail Care. Ever hear of Gleason Spinnaker?

So I buy my boat and she comes with two roller furling headsails, the Johnson (which I think was pretty standard for a '91) and a 135% Genoa with the name "Gleason Spinnaker" on it. The Genoa must've been a real nice sail in it's day, foam luff for furling, foot and leech tensioner, leather at the clew, the whole nine-yards. However, the sail was heavily used, maybe even worn out. I sent it to Sail Care a week and a half ago and today get the hit list: $566.36!!! Ouwee! I was expecting a couple hundred, but they want to replace the PVC sunband for $8.50/ft. (I'm not saying it doesn't need it).

So now I'm faced with what I like to call the typical appliance/electronics repair shop conundrum: When you have the washing machine repairman come to the house to fix the washer, or you take your computer or TV in for repair, no matter what's wrong with it, the cost for the repair is half the cost to replace it. I've seen it many times.

What say you? There is absolutely NOTHING on the internet about Gleason Spinnaker, so I have no idea what the sail is even worth. But based on what appears to be above average construction and a $566.36 repair estimate, I'd venture a guess at maybe $1132.72.

Anyone replace a 23/3 genoa? What's a price I should expect? I would think I could replace the dern thing for just a little more than this repair estimate...no? I appreciate the input.

My SailEast mf'g. Carol Stream, Illinois [sewn in Hong Kong] spinnaker for my Com-Pac 19 is a yellow and blue asymmetrical Star-Cut spinnaker [Star-cut cost more then the banded design, they use more material] and comes with a spinnaker [ATN] sock rigged with sock lines in the colors and design I choose purchased at The All Sail Boat Show at Navy Pier five years ago cost me $520. And arrived UPS at my house in about 4 weeks.
I think some where on the USPS link and/or Frappr below are some spinnaker pictures of the 'big gun'.
