Introduction of Puppy Luff - Again

We searched this forum for information on CP-16's prior to purchasing Puppy Luff in September 2008.  We joined the forum immediately and introduced ourselves on October 13th, which apparently crashed the site within a day or two.   Talk about lousy timing.  We were thrilled when the site came back on-line and have made a few posts, traded with a member and received excellent feedback on our beginner questions.  Our thanks to the site administrators and members.

Our s/v Puppy Luff is a very stock '84 Anniversary Issue which we are beginning to pretty up.  We have purchased a used 155 genoa, new tracks, new mainsheet swivel cam, trailer tires, bottom paint and Poli Glow to keep us busy waiting for this sucky Wisconsin winter to give up.

We (Mike and Brenda) learned to sail on a 10' plastic clunker, moved on to a 12' Lockley Seawitch with mainsail and jib, and have had our 16 out several times in conditions from "Are we still moving?"  to 26 MPH gusts.  These 16's sure are stable and forgiving.  So far the sailing education is going pretty well.  We have had to use the ol' 1952 Evinrude a couple of times to get back when the wind completely disappeared, but most of the time we have managed to sail away from the dock and get it back under sail.  Well there was the one time we sailed back into the dock and the father/daughters fishing on the end and side of the pier refused to pull their lines out as we were gliding in.  Not a really smooth looking landing!  Not a crash, but we really looked silly trying to go in reverse without a reverse gear.

Thanks.  I see another couple from Oconomowoc, WI is advertising their CP-16 for sale on Craigslist - Madison.  Only asking around $2600 with the Ida Sail rudder.  I got a pretty decent deal on my 16, bought it late (very late) in the season for $1800.  Hope to get to know a few CPer's.

Welcome board, yes it was a shock when the website went down.  But it is back and so are we!
You from wisconsin?  We are also. Burlington.  Sail all over, including a little trip down to Carlyle Lake in Illinois.
Email me and maybe we can get together.  DougMartindale at WI dot RR dot COM
My friend Randy in Elkhorn also has a CP16.  Just down the road.
Lake Kegonsa is most excellent.  We have Brown's lake right across the highway from us.
Again.  Welcome aboard, hope to hear from you.
