Any tips for sailing a 27

Our new boat is arriving as I type. Our last boat was a 23' Hunter. Any suggestions to make life easier would be appreciated.

Well your new boat has been with you a few days and maybe already in the water.

Main difference from your Hunter a CP will be the keel versus center board. Can't pick up the keel when the water gets thin so a good depth sounder is a must.  Other than that I think Lost Lake about it all up.

   Have you been following the Barnegat Bay Bash '08 thread at the lounge here? Looks like we may all converge on Saturday, 8/09. As far as draft constraints, my friend Dennis will be there with his Morgan 30 which draws 3 1/2'. I believe you draw 3 feet, yes?
   The Bash is no highly organized event, just a bunch of us getting together at Tice's Shoals to eat some food, drink some grog, swim in the ocean and just generally let time slow down a bit. We plan on overnighting to Sunday when most of us must return to the real (or sureal) work world.

Thanks for the advise. We sail in Barnegat Bay so we are used to suddenly shallow water. Our boat made it from Clearwater Fl. to Riverside NJ where it is being prepared. Then my husband and crew are sailing it to Forked River. We named the boat "For Pete's Sake". It is named after my 95 year old father who still drives and walks 2 miles a day. We want our boat to be as low maintenance and durable. We still don't know exactly when we will be in full possession but we hope to join you at Tice's.
