My Foremost Impression

Last fall, I spent four days aboard a Catalina 27 learning as much as could about sailing from my friend who owns the boat. This was during the Annapolis Boat Show, and my friend guided me into zeroing in on The Legacy at that show. Got a chance to meet Com-Pac owner Richard Hutchins, a very nice man.

This past month, the very first time I sailed my Legacy, Little Orca, in NY's Chautauqua Lake, my foremost impression was that it sailed like a much bigger boat. When you spend four days on a boat, inexperienced as I am, it can leave a kinesthetic effect inside of what a boat "feels" like, and in my case, it stayed with me ever since I was on the Catalina. The absolutely amazing thing is that my experience aboard my Legacy do not contrast with that feeling. I am so happy with my choice.

Mister Bee:
I make it a point when at the Annapolis Show to visit the Compac boys, chatting with Rich or Gerry. Yes, they are both great guys.
I saw that Legacy at the show...very nice boat. Always wondered how they sailed. There was recently a very good review of the Legacy in Small Craft Advisor magazine.
Best to you in your new boat!

Thanks, Bob. Might sound silly, but I bought a newstand copy of SCA with that review, in addition to my subscription copy. Proud to own that boat.
