I'm not sure how many here know about the online Summer Sailstice event...a free grass-root effort to promote sailing by having everyone get out on the water to celebrate the Summer.  In it's eighth year, their motto is "Sail locally, celebrate globally."

In that spirit, I've created an event called the Com-Pac Virtual Convergence '08 (yeah, I appropriated the name idea from the LBI folks...hope you don't mind).  The event is "hosted" out of New Hampshire (since I created the group).

Registration is free and there are loads of great prizes to be won.  Anybody interested in signing up?  Go to SummerSailstice.com and register.

Ideas?  Thoughts?

Carol,
Sounds like fun, lets all do it.... who knows we might discover some long lost Com-pac's out there and get them to join the fun here on our forum.........

Got my vote.

Smooth and happy sailing.

I like the name as well.  ;)

Okay so I joined up and found a event called 'Summer Sailstice Barnegat Bay ' A cruising rally on the bay followed by BBQ at 4pm at Berkeley Island Park on the 21st.

Sounds interesting, but could give some more info, such as what a virtual C-P convergence is. Sounds like fun.

Sorry for taking so long to reply...been travelling and, yes, sailing :-)

Summer Sailstice is just a way of getting everyone out on the water on the longest day of the year.  Most folks would get together physically, using the Summer Sailstice site to coordinate and event.  But there's no reason we can't hold a virtual event since we're scattered all over the place (I'm in NH) then meet here to swap stories and virtual margaritas.  I'll be participating in our local club's learn to sail program while I shamelessly extol the virtues of my little 16 for lake sailing.

By signing up at SummerSailstice.com and joining our virtual event (listed under physical NH) you can also be eligible to win some pretty cool stuff.  It's all free,,,just like the wind.

"see" you on the 21st.

Found in NH

I signed up... thanks for the reminder!  I'll be there in spirit with you.  (The body will be in Sheepshead Bay with the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club.)
