Greetings:

My name is Henry Cordova and I am a freelance journalist currently
researching  the ComPac 19 for a boat review in Good Old Boat magazine.
GOB does a boat review of an older, popular sailboat every issue as a
service to those in the market for a used boat. A few weeks ago I
attempted to join your group to continue my research, but as of today I still
get a "Membership Pending" message when I try to log in, so please
forgive me for trying to get in through "the back door".

Please let me present my credentials.  A quick perusal of the GOB
website will confirm I am a long-time contributor to that publication, and
my past stories include profiles of both the Hutchins company and
Island Packet Yachts (IPY's RK Johnson designed several ComPac hulls,
including the 19).  I have just completed a boat review of the IP27 which
will appear in the Mar/Apr '08 issue of GOB.

For the ComPac 19 article I have already re-interviewed both Gerry
Hutchins and Bob Johnson, and gone sailing with the satisfied owner of a
ComPac 19 in Clearwater, Florida.  I am interested in joining your
group temporarily so I can gather data on this boat from a wide variety of
owners. I am interested in performance characteristics, maintenance and
support issues, and market conditions which might be of interest to
our readers; in short, any information a prospective buyer of a used boat
might like to have. All information is welcome: good, or bad.  I'm
already familiar with the 19 and know it by its reputation as a good boat,
but I am also interested in its flaws and shortcomings as well.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

I tried the Yahoo group and got the 'membership pending' message also, many moons ago. Oh well, if the site is unmanned, what's a sailor to do?

I think we should direct him to this site!

I sent a link and a 'Howdy' to the nice man..... It's great he is doing a story on the CP19.... She's a pretty sweet little boat!
