The Americal Practical Navigator or "Bowditch" as it is commonly known is the most comprehensive manual ever compiled on the art and science of navigation. This version of the Bowditch is in PDF format in indivual chapters.  Some of the chapters are rather large and might take some time to download, so we have put the file sized next to them.

Cap't Ick:
I thnk my father in law, who has about 70 years sailing experience, has an old copy. Some works I'd rather own in book form so I can read them whenever I want.
Have you read "Carry On, Mr. Bowditch"? It seems to be a story of Nathaniel Bowditch's life; saw it in the new Celestaire catalog, which by the way, is an excellent source for anything navigational, focusing on celestial nav- something I have vowed to myself to learn this winter.
Received an intersting book for Christmas- "Celestial Navigation for the Clueless". That's for me!
