i know ive seen this question answered before, but since i can't fine the particular post, i'll have to ask again. with a roller reefing jib installed on my cp16, im wondering if the distance from the foot of the jib to the deck is critical to safety. the hanked on jib was set very close to the deck and always rested on the bow rails somewhat. the roller jib rides much higher (approximately 5 or 6 inches) above the deck. will this distance (although it does help forward vision) increase the rate of heel and affect safety or is the change negligable?   as always, i appreciate the wealth of knowledge available on the site       kicknbug

The CDI Frler instructions tell you that the tack should be several inches ( the instructions were not specific on how many inches.)above the furler drum. You attach a line to a hole in the drum and another to the tack of the jib and adjust the tension.
Hope this helps. I have the hardware but I have only hanked on the jib in my driveway.

I have a Harken roller fuller on my 23. I love it and having previous hank on's, I think the jib riding a bit higher is an improvement. If you get wash over the front you won't want the jib on the deck anyway. I have noticed no change in jib performance (but I don't race)
Just my 2 cents.
