CE Classification

  I am considering a compac 25 or 27 and I would like to know their CE ratings. It seems that Catalina and Hunter have them for all models (ex. The Hunter 27 get CE B). I'm surprised I haven't seen any for compac.
  I would imagine a compac is tougher at sea than a Hunter or Catalina and would therefore have a higher CE class for a given size boat.

  I don't know about CE ratings but the Compac is definitely a tougher boat. I would imagine the factory could supply you with these ratings.
  I almost bought a 27 last summer but decided to stay with my little 23. I don't really care for the 25's, though. Seems like it might be slow; don't like the stern; very high freeboard. Standing headroom in a shoal draft boat, though.

  Thx, Bob23! I can check with the factory, but I'm surprised it's not listed - that I see - in the online pdf brochure.
   As per the 25, I notice it's not listed by Gulf Island Sails, so maybe it's not so great.
   I read that Pacific Seacraft has gone bust, which I think shows that making a seaworthy boat that's very expensive is dicey. Compacs are not as pricey but are definitely dearer than Catalinas and Hunters, the more popular competition. Hope they can persevere in this market.

Unless I'm mistaken CE is a European classification and a boat manufacturer would only apply to have the classification determined if they were importing new boats to Europe.  Catalina and Hunter do so but I don't know if Compac does.
