The weather here in eastern North Carolina has been perfect for camping, and what are little boats, but hardshell tents that float. We pushed off about 730ish and headed out into a nice wind. 500 yards into the sail the wind became a breeze. 1/2 mile  fron hone and we were weren't so much sailing as we were drifting with the breeze. We passed yet another abandoned boat. That makes 4 in a 200 acre area.
I'm trying out a new anchor and it garbage. Sitting in 8' woth 20' of chain and 20' of rode out, it refuses tovset in mud. No worries, the water is like glass tonight.
The anchor beer has been consumed and a book on Edisto Island from 1663 to 1860 sit on my lap.

Last night the dew came early so I retired inside and read my book until almost midnight before drifting off.
At 0600 I was awakened by a couple fishermen as they motored by and their wake rocked the boat. Last night was very peaceful with no wind, no bugs, and temps in the high 50s. The VHF is busy with talk as boaters returning from the Caribbean annouce their positions along the ICW. Coffee has been made, but the breakfast I had planned, a gift from a grandson of freeze dried biscuits & gravy, will have to wait as I forgot a fork. I may sail into town and grab another coffe & scone at the "Bean", but that depends on the when the wind arrives. We have a friends dog at the house.

Sailed into town and tied up at the free docks. Got myself a coffee and breakfast sandwich. Sitting on the coffee shop deck talking with the old timers about Compac boats. On my return home it took all my willpower not to head out on the river. That darn dog needs to be taken out. Wind picked up and I was sailing along up the creek when I spotted beautiful bright yellow Bayfield 29. With my attention on it, I caught a crab pot on my rudder. 😲
After climbing down the stern ladder I was able to free it before running into anything. I'm sure it was a sight. Me hanging off the stern while the boat is sailing along.

This is why I'm the founder and president of the "Knucklehead Sailing Club".

I did manage to sail up to our dock, step off and secure the boat without incident. My 15 seconds of coolness.

Keep the stories coming, Carl!  The pictures are great.

The abandoned boats on our waterways are a sad problem.  All to easy for them to end up that way it seems.

Also, congrats on the smooth docking.  It's always nice when that works out and we've all had enough rough docking experience to really appreciate those rare times (in my experience) when everything goes great.  I'm generally happy when I can walk away and say "That went pretty well and we didn't break anything".
