I noticed this section mostly covers adventure stories, biographies, etc., and there doesn't appear to be a list of instructional resources for someone wanting to learn in a straightforward way (vs gleaning lessons from stories). For example, I own and recommend:

- The Handbook of Sailing by Bob Bond
- The Competitive Cat by Bill Welch
- The Catboat and How to Sail Her by The Catboat Association

but would love to also have some illustrated guides or videos on, for example, anchoring, gunkholing, coastal cruising, canal cruising, small outboard repair & maintenance, boat upkeep (incl on the hard), trailers, etc. Obviously YouTube has everything you could ever imagine, but a short list would be much easier. We could consider it a "free library" of sorts and pin it as a resource in the forum. Thank you for anything you might recommend.

Hi, Dave ~

A great idea! I've seen many of the items you've mentioned, here and there, but having a centralized location/thread for noting such resources would be invaluable. I'm no longer the techie that I once was (by way of my former career), but I believe if a thread is started on this topic, the person who is the OP is the person who will probably have to update the 'master list' as forum members add suggestions to the thread. This way, rather than scrolling through the entire thread of suggestions, the master list would be available within the initial post of the thread. That would mean the OP would have to copy and paste suggestions back up into that original post, however, I believe. Maybe, if possible, there might be a way to share or distribute the responsibility of updating the master list, but I'm not sure how that would work on this forum. Maybe Tim G. might have some suggestions on how to do this? (In other words, I'm not sure what the backside of the forum looks like for creating such a thread that could have its original post updated by multiple people?) I once belonged to another forum where this sort of thing was a possibility, but I'm not sure exactly how it was achieved, unfortunately.
