It's me, again. ;D Would love to learn others' thoughts re: winterizing a fresh water system and also the holding tank system aboard my 1990 Com-Pac 23D. My Legacy doesn't have any of these systems, so this is a 'new deal' for me to work on this sort of stuff.  ;D Tips and advice greatly appreciated and welcomed! I realize that I can 'YouTube it' for this sort of thing, but I would really be so incredibly grateful for having advice from my fellow Com-Pac owners on this wonderful forum! :)

Thank you!

For my 23 it is easy.  I pump all the water out of the tank, pour in a gallon of the pink marine/RV non toxic anti freeze, pump until I get pink coming out of the sink faucet and the cockpit hose bib and done.  End of winter reverse the process pump out the anti freeze and refill the water tank with an ounce of that stuff that keeps your water from getting smelly.  It is easy because I installed pressure water many years back so no manual pumping.  Ironically, the pump, accumulator, faucet, fittings and wiring components only cost about $140  which was just a touch over the cost of the repair parts for the bursitis stirring manual pump.

Don't have nor want a holding tank, I use a Clean Waste toilet and Wag Bags, much less hassle. If your cruising profile is just a couple of nights out at a time or just day sailing it is the way to go.

Threads on all the above will come up with search.  If not I'll find them for you.

Thank you so very much, brackish! I really appreciate the info!

I, too, would prefer not to have a holding tank -- maybe, one day, I will change things up in that capacity. I will check out the Clean Waste toilet and Wag Bags you mentioned, for sure!

Thanks so much, again!

A link to some pics regarding the Clean Waste and pressure water.  With the Wag Bags you should get a three gallon bucket with the same configuration as a standard 5 gallon and add a Gamma Seal lid to it.  It will fit in the starboard cockpit locker behind the battery station and will hold quite a few days worthy of Wag Bags.  Then when you leave the boat, just dump it in the first trash receptacle you come to.  Very clean, odor free.
