Hello All,

Harrier is pushing 30 years and I have no idea how old the rigging is so I'm going to install new standing rigging. Who out there has replaced their standing rigging and chainplates, did you purchase from Com-Pac?  Any tips or advice are welcome.

Take care,
John

I removed, cleaned and inspected my chainplates but did not replace since they looked good. I rebedded them with butyl tape to allow some flex. Getting to the nuts on the interior is a real bitch - requires removing some of the teak trim panels. Ugh.

Like you, my rigging is due for replacement although it still looks fine with no visible corrosion or broken strands (freshwater boat). Com-Pac is an option but you could also use a local rigger or send them to Defender for a quote. I have found local riggers to be the most expensive option.

If you replace the rigging, consider dropping the mast and replacing the wiring and masthead lights while you're at it.
