My previous Suncat had a 6 hp 4 stroke, 20 in shaft - performed well without any obvious effect on boat balance. Previous Eclipse had the Sailpro 6 hp - also a good performer. Current Sundaycat (yes, I am fickle) has a 3.5 hp Tohatsu - very adequate power (caught out in a storm with high winds and still required no more than half throttle). I?ve never missed having a reverse, don?t enjoy filling the tank on top of the motor but like that it sips fuel and is much easier to carry. The Sundaycat has an added 28 sq ft job on a 5 ft bowsprit (with homemade roller furling) - much improved performance on all points of sail. Custom made naca aluminum rudder (using original plate rudder as a core) - does not round up in high wind. If anyone would like info I?ll be glad to share info/pictures. Eddie C
