Hi Everyone ... brand new member here hailing from the Great Lakes, specifically Midland Ontario on Georgian Bay. 2 days ago I picked up a remarkably good condition CP16 (c/w tilt trailer) but that had been left sitting under pine trees for the past 3 or 4 years.  Needless to say I've spent the past 2 days scrubbing and inspecting.  It came with it's mast and stays (which all looks to be AOK) but she's missing her boom and sails.  The concrete ballast wasn't sealed so I suspect that the keel is saturated ... which probably explains the poorly executed exterior keel repair attempts.  I'm pretty handy and good with fibreglass (both polyester & epoxies) and I'm really looking forward to making her ship-shape Bristol Fashion.  Thanks so much for the add and I'm looking forward to participating in the forums ????

I'll add a few pics ... once I figure out how ????

Welcome!  I'm very interested in seeing before and afters of your repairs, especially of the keel.  Good luck with it.

Welcome to the club. When I first got my 16 I couldn't figure out where the water was coming from. I reset all the ports and all the wood. Then I noticed that the stay plates sandwich the hull. One on the outside and one on the inside. A slot is cut in the deck to let in the inside stay plate. All my water was coming in through that slot. Removed all the old chalking and used that 3M stuff. Water problem solved.

I drilled a hole in the forward bottom of the keel and tipped the boat to let it drain. Took about three days to remove about three liters of water. Then glassed the hole up. I didn't have any problem with the concrete being all crumbled.

Good Luck
