Thanks Jon.  That info is gold!  I'll not be trying to launch when the level is very far from normal.  My tow vehicle is a kia van and the ground clearance is not much, so normal levels are what I need to shoot for.

I wouldn't worry too much about high water even with low ground clearance...as long as the ramps are open you should be good to go.  The ramps are all well maintained and a good, constant slope.

One final tidbit! During the winter months (which of course in NC can be a great sailing season) the state closes some of the ramps for the season, including Vista Point, probably for budget/staffing reasons. So is you're driving from a distance in the fall or spring, check in advance to verify which ramps are open, closed, or open limited hours.
