What do most Com Pac 27 ft sailboats prefer as their main anchor and how much chain is preferred for all conditions?

Depends where you sail and bottom conditions. I have a 22 pound lewmar quick set but I actually had better luck with a 22 pound Danforth. To each his own preference.

Agree there's no simple answer to this. I sail in shallow waters (North Carolina) where the bottom is soft mud, and generally stay overnight in marinas. Anchoring is usually just for lunch or swimming stops. So my 22 lb Lewmar Delta anchor with 20' of chain and 150' of three strand nylon rode suits me well and keeps weight at the bow to a minimum. I might make different choices in other circumstances.

I have a similar setup as Bruce on allure, a lewmar and a Danforth as a spare.  30' of chain on each, one has 200' and the other has 150'.  Then I carry an extra 100' of line just in case I need it for something, like maybe a tow.  Only because it came with the boat.  I have never had an issue with holding.
