CP-16: things I've come to love

Now that I'm in my 3rd year of sailing, I wanted to reflect on the simple things that - as a singlehander  - I love about my Com-Pac 16...

Roller reefing boom
When I bought the boat, the PO didn't mention this feature. But I use it weekly!
Overpowered? Heave-to, and 60 seconds later, my main is reefed.

Sheet Control
I added 2 wooden drawer knobs to the top/forward end of my tiller. The rear one keeps my mainsheet where I can find it - blindfolded. The forward one holds my jib sheets - which I tie together before getting underway. Why keep reaching for the port/stbd sheet when I can pair them up!

Simpleton's Tiller Clutch
The forward tiller knob also holds a bungee, which is attached to the forwardmost part of the cockpit well. I'm amazed at how nicely the boat maintains a course relative to the wind! It's sweet to trim the sails & set the tiller... then sail hands-free until it's time to tack.

A Boat that Gets Sailed
So many guys at the marina comment on how quickly & often I get underway. "They charge extra if you sail more than 4X per week, ya know!" I motor out of my side-tie slip & pass guys who are constantly in maintenance mode, or are waiting for another hand before venturing out.
