tiller strap pattern

The tiller I got with my boat is nice but the tiller straps are....garbage.  I know they are not to the original design if at all any seaworthy design.  Does any one have  good photo of how the straps should look like or a pattern for the straps?    If anyone would please send me a cell phone photo of their tiller strap it would help.  My cell is 240-876-9194  Thanks, L

Well I hope someone responds.  It will help increase my knowledge base.  In fifty years of sailing I've never heard of a tiller strap.  Post a pic of what you have and don't like so I can understand what you mean.  Maybe it is a terminology issue.

I think the straps are the two metal tang pieces that connect tiller to the upper casting.   I don't know the CP16 dimensions of this piece--on our 19 the part is about 1/4" thick and width is about 1/2 less than the aft tiller height. Very strong for what it is, but after you sail some rough quartering seas you can tell why the part is so thick!

If this isn't what you're talking about, well, I have no idea either...

Maybe this picture will help. There are two metal plates connecting the tiller to the rudder head. I do not see these parts listed in the CP-16 parts list.

Tiller straps attach the tiller to the rudder head. The ones on my boat are made from aluminum angle and not what I want to use, they look like scrap metal.  The photo helps, Thanks!

Got it.  I've always known them as yoke plates, however, Compac does call them tiller straps.  $12.50 each on the CP16 parts list.

I just got an email about the straps I ordered.......back order!  Great!  Cancelled order.  I just messaged Yamaha33410 to see if I can buy his used ones.  Fingers are crossed!

Hey Leonardo:  Your note touched off a in-depth search of my spare parts.  I did not find the straps in the likely places I did find the gudgeons.  I will check out the boat. If I find them I will let you know asap.
