Rigging questions

Hi Guys,

So I have been sailing my 84 mk1 for about a year. I did not want to change anything on the boat until I sailed her a bit.

I have a genoa slide track on the about 2/3 way back to the stern. it has a loop car on it that's it. I have bullseye mounted on the gunwale next to the track, a cam in front of the stern T cleats. It's the same on both sides.

I have not used any of this but I know the guy I bought it from knew more than I do. Any ideas on how he rigged this. It did come with a yellow stripe genoa. I tried to post a picture but looks like the file is a bit to large.

How long are the tracks? If they are for the genoa, seems they would have a moveable car with bullseye on each track so the sheeting angle could be adjusted.  From the description sounds like the sheets for the genoa went through a fixed bullseye and terminated at the stern cleat.
Is the track on the coaming or the gunwale? Stainless or aluminum?How many screws per foot on the track. Could it be track for a bimini? You don't want to take genoa sheets to a track that is not well secured. The tracks could pull out and cause some damage to the hull plus unnecessary excitement for the crew.
A picture would really help.

Thanks for the help. The track is 2ft mounted on the coming. its a one inch wide. mounting screws are 4 in for center to center.

Well the picture I posted only showed the bimini track. You can see that it is light aluminum, just to adjust the bimini .
If this second picture posts, it will show the genoa track on the coaming. The car is a Ronstan RC81943  shown in the second picture. You need one for port and one for starboard. Maybe these are in misc. gear that came with the boat. Without these cars or similar the tracks would not have much use.

The cars I showed fit 5/8 inch track. I don't want you to buy something that won't fit. Maybe the previous owner would have a part # for your tracks and info on the cars if he/she had them.

OK. You have T track with a genoa slide. If you run the sheet through the pad eye on the slide and secure to a cleat, you can move the slide forward or aft on the track and change the sheeting angle  of a jib or genoa.
A block on the slide padeye would help, but you certainly can rig the genoa with what you have.

Depending on the wind size of the genoa you may want to take the sheets outboard of the shrouds.

Thanks so much! I knew the P.O. had it set up that way for a reason. So about the what I call the bullseye ( the black one) are you saying sheet goes thru there, then thru the pad eye ?

My guess, the bulls eye was used as a lead to the stern cleat before the T 's were installed OR it was used to hang a fender.
You don't need it for your genoa and it is not in line with your tracks.
Suggest before you use the tracks, pull a couple screws to see the size and holding power then reseat with 3M4200 or similar.
