There is a sail maker in VA who is making or has made a junk sail for a Compac 23.  I'd love to find out who the owner is
to connect with and share information. Is that you Bob23? Did you come over to the dark side?

No Phil but I have been intrigued by the junk rig. It seems so versatile that I'd like to explore it. Maybe if I get serious about it we can talk!

Bob, It looks like there will be someone out there doing what appears to be the first conversion of a 23.  Both design and detail info from that could be very helpful if you do get serious about the rig. Of course I'd be more than happy to share what I have learned.  The handiness of the rig is a big appeal for this old timer but at least one man in Norway has been racing his junk rigged boat successfully including in the race he describes.

"Last race of the season, adventseilasen in Karmsundet. Windy conditiones With sqwalls up to 36 knots. 3 boats assisted a J 24 that broached and sank(!) and aborted the race to bring back the wet and frozen crew. Another boat lost its mast. 13 starters and 6 finishers, Marie G came home 4th, beaten by 3 expresses and a J 24, all sailed by very competent crews. I had to reef and shake out reefs to keep Marie G running well, all in all a good day on the fjord by an old singlehander."
