CP 19 Bilge Sidewall Damage Question

Greetings, I recently inspected an otherwise very nice CP 19 but it had a a 5 x 5 inch (approx.) hole in the top right front sidewall of the bilge (I wish I had taken a photo of it). I'm wondering if that is a "deal-breaker"? While it can be repaired, what I'm wondering about is if water got into that void on the inside of the bilge wall, if it would settle over the concrete ballast and eventually weaken it?

Also, the boat had an instrument removed from an aft side of the cabin house facing the cockpit and was taped over with what looked like painters tape and it looked like rainwater could have gotten into the interstitial space between the exterior and interior walls (or interior liner). Again, what are the potential risks if water got into there? Could it go somewhere where it could cause long-term damage?

Otherwise it looks like a great boat and I would seriously consider buying it and joining this organization :-)

Thanks!

Hello C19fan,
Can't answer your questions but I've just decided to sell my Compac 19 III with trailer.  It is a problem free boat. I'm located in Falmouth, MA if you are interested/nearby.

Not an impossible fix but If water has saturated the core (these boats are cored in spots) that's a bigger job than you think getting to dry material. I would look at Marc's boat (I've never seen but sounded good in his post!)
