I found(in of all places, Sail Magazine) a great place for the Alaskan Mid-Summer Com-Pac Gathering.

Perfect for Bob23 to get his 16 fix without the actual ownership costs associated.  Any takers?  TG

Hah.   Sure would like to drag my boat from KS to AK, NOT.  Seattle is just a little over 1/2 way from here.

Years ago, I had a co-worker who wanted to do a vacation in AK.  So he bought a  new Ford Excort or Pinto (can't recall) and took 4 wks to drive all the way up there and back.  I'm sure the roads in the 80s aren't nearly as good as they could be now.

He had a great time, but darned near wore that care out in one trip!

Ron you don't need to tow your 16 cuz they have one. That's the point! Meanwhile, since we have never had more than 4 fully grown folks on our 16, and that was crowded, the AMSCPG will fill up fast! If Tim is going then that leaves just 3 more.......Bob you hearing that?

We spent nearly a month several years ago up in BC and Alaska. The coast up through there is spectacular. Vancouver is now our favorite larger city in North America. I highly recommend a trip. The Sea to Sky highway from Vancouver up to Whistler Blackcomb will take your breath away. Everyone seems to be involved with mountain sports and boating. Our kind of folks!

So....lets see....AMSCPG 1.0  :)

You know if you hurry you can sign up for the 2018 Race to Alaska @ r2ak.com, combine it with the AMSCPG.
4 guys in a CP-16 could take it for sure!

I'm sure I'm busy that week so I just can't make it.  I expect you will have no problems finding a 4th.

Take some video while you are up there. It looks breathtaking.

Ok Bob, ya gotta take a look at the website! There is a "human power only" race up here as well! Time to get that guideboat all shined up. Don't wanna be a "Straggler" :)

These R2AK guys are so laid back about the whole thing I just have to laugh.  At least they let you think that.  They are very serious yachtsmen (mostly) and let you think they are just a bunch of crazy stoners.  Not so much.

Every time I watch their promo video I crack up.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=THYVHkjuXLo

Just pure snark, giving all other racing promo videos a big middle finger.  And if you don't get it they don't care.

These guys and their passion is what this race is about, not sponsors and money.  There are not a lot of people qualified to do this and I'm certainly not one of them.  They are following their passion, living their dream.  I endeavor to do the same.

Wow, an Alaska cruise sounds nice, but the admiral would insist on it being from a heated, small cruise ship.  We'd signed up to do a cruise several years ago, but cancer foiled our plans for a couple of years.  The time to do it is NOW.

I did look at the mentioned drive to Whistler Blackcomb.  Wow, that looks nice.  I also looked at driving on up to Ketchecan, but wow, that looks like a tough drive.  200 miles a day would seem tops to me.

I might have to try the Alaska cruise for this summer.
