Having had to search a little to find a copy of Maurice Griffiths - 'The first of the tide' at a sensible price I have truly enjoyed the reading.

The book is essentially eleven anecdotal stories from yesteryear and an essay on small boat cruising then and now, very much carrying on from MG's classic (UK)  East Coast sailing book 'The Magic of The Swatchways'. The main difference being that 'The First of the Tide' was written 49 years after the 'Magic of the Swatchways'.
Overall I enjoyed the First of the Tide a bit more than the earlier book, as I thought the writing more relaxed.

I would rate it as a perfect bunkside read.

I love reading this stuff and have amassed a decent collection. I'll check this out, thanks!
