New owner for an older CP19

Hi,
My name is Adam, and I just got an older Com-Pac 19. I've spent the last few years sailing Hobie Adventure Island kayaks all over the Northern Chesapeake Bay. Lots of fun, but I wanted to move up the learning curve, and also get a boat that I could sail with friends. Looking forward to checking out all the great info here, and hopefully meeting any other owners in my area.

Welcome aboard.  Do you know you hull number?  I need to learn mine, but the key is to know what model of 19 you have.  Big difference is if you have a bowsprit or not.  My 19 does.  i have only had her for 2 sailing seasons, and she has sailed better that I hoped.

I am trying not to drill any new holes, so I am getting creative about leading lines to where I can reach them, and setting up boat for solo sailing.  This is great group for advice, but I am still validating my fixes, so be careful...

Welcome aboard! I was in your shoes last fall and I learned a ton from this site. The search function is great, as most thing have been done several times so you should be able to find an answer pretty quickly. The 19 is a little tank so it should handle that bay chop well, just don't plan on breaking an speed records.

Hence, the name Terrapin, it came from previous owner, and was perfect fit, when we added Irish flourish!

Thanks Adam.  I am on way for solo sail today and need to take photo of recent "solo" upgrades to send to my Admiral, who is FEMA deployed for possibly rest of our sailing season.  I hope to post soon.
