Don from Peconic Bay

Hi!  I'm new to the group and would like to introduce myself.  My name is Don Stamm. I'm retired and living in Jamesport NY on the Great Peconic Bay.  Ive been mostly a dinghy sailor but find I'm getting a bit stiff for all that activity and I'm ready for a keelboat.  I recently picked up my '81 Compac 16.  It had been sitting on its trailer in the shade for about 15 years.  The 4 HP Johnson is 20 years old but has about 2 hours on it. Looks and runs like new and is still breaking in.  The boat is in great shape and after a good cleaning looks ready to go .  The trailer keel bunk is rotten and I will change all and replace the bunk supports as soon as I get the boat in the water so I can work on the trailer.  Looking forward to sailing her on the East End bays of Long Island and seeing her come to life again after all those years.  Hull # is 1445 and we're still working on a name.
Believe me... there is nothing ... half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.

Welcome aboard!  This is a great place to connect with other owners.  I'm greatly enjoying my CP-16, although I wish I did get to sail it more often.

Welcome Don from another retiree still sailing.  Enjoy your boat.  You, of course, will have to worry about Bob, since you are well within his reach.  However, if you commit to trailer down and do the BBB next year, you can probably cut a deal with him for an exemption.
