Kick writes "well, here is the plan. the 2017 Carlyle Lake Rendezvous will take place June 26th through June 30th.  i have received some input from other CLR sailors regarding dates but in the past have found that it is impossible to schedule the event and make everyone happy. hopefully this time will work. by late june the water is warm enough to swim and maybe the weather wont be as hot as july and august. as always, most sailors will keep their boat at the West Acess Marina ( 618) 594-2461) and either stay aboard or at the nearby Mariners Village Motel (618) 594-7666. the motel also has cabins as well which could be shared i suspect. this year im hoping to have a night sail, corn hole tourney, the CLR Cup race and possibly a "Race to the Silo". i have all winter to iron out the details and i always welcome input.    ill take this opportunity to ask attendees if they want to have a "warm up" race prior to the CLR cup race. same course the day before probably wed. the "Race To the Silo" is more of a "Cruise to the Silo" and then to a real nice raft up spot on the west side. I realize that most sailors in this group are cruisers rather than racers, however, the more races the more "trophies" i can present. Mike C. aka Salty 19 will be our race pooba this year and will figure out the position of the markers (hopefully we can see them better than last year (my fault). I know three Races in a week seems like a lot but just think of it as a way to sail as a fleet. it lends itself nicely to photos. Who doesnt want photos of their craft under sail? The silo sits in the middle of the lake approximately 5 1/2 miles north of the damn spillway. if the wind is out of the west (like it was on the last day of last years event) it could be a nice beam reach all the way there. I figure the Silo race could be held on pizza night that way we are not pressed for time dinner wise. the weather, of course, will dictate what happens and when.

EGADS!!! Just realizing that CLR is only 2 weeks away! EGADS!!! I'm not bringing a sailboat so I may need to stowaway on a kind hearted sailors boat. Or just impose my obnoxious self upon some unsuspecting victim. In return, I promise to supply all the PBR said captain is willing to consume!
No need to thank me now...

i may have to talk rich into bringing his catalina22 again this year. the greenes will be with us until wed at least. matt did buy a boat , hunter 19, so he might enjoy ordering you around. i dont know how he feels about the pbr idea. chris, roger and dan will be on suncats sailling solo. there should be room in other words. carl is also an option. you guys can share "tall tales".

I put a 5th coat of paint on the boat and it looks worse than the last coat.  Tomorrow a friend is supposed to help with replacing all the deck hardware. The interior is still in pieces on the garage floor. The new port gaskets, teak bung (chipmunk ate the other ones) gold tape and logos all came in. If the deck hardware doesn't get finished, I'll be being the 15' hullmaster.

So sorry to have to write this but I will not be able to attend this years CLR. Long story, we had an accident (not an injury) on an oceanfront project where we caused about 20k damage to the owners house. While the insurance company came through with flying colors (I'm shocked!) and I tried to push the remediation along quickly, it comes down to this week to complete the repair. While my son is able to do this on his own, I need to be around to reassure the owner we have it under control. I know, I lie a little. Ok, a lot!! At this point he still owes me close to 25 g's and I cannot risk getting him more unhappy than he is.

I don't like this. I had planned to be there, had the rooms booked, cooked up a bunch of nice lies to be told at the dock party and while you guys will be out there practically swimming in PBR, I'll be here on the NJ coast working. I so looked forward to hanging out with you all and will miss each and every one of you! Can't wait for the reports and photos....:(

sorry to hear that you're not coming, looks like i dodged having to put on a disguise to buy you that twelve pack.

we'll see you next year and maybe if i buy the pbr now for next year, it will get better with age?  can't get worse!

the boat and truck are both packed and we'll be leaving in the morn.

look for the ugly green boat with a blue bimini and multi-colored genoa.

maybe if i pour real beer into a pbr can and drink it while sailing, no one will think twice of the mismatch of colors.

i'll just explain that i'm from jersey.

Explain that you're from Jersey? Think anyone's gonna believe that??  Enjoy the rendezvous! And I'll take the raincheck on the PBR!!! Will miss everyone.

CC,

Just say, "What colors?"  Then no explanation as to your Bob@# (qwerty uppercase 23.  Fits doesn't it?) jersey connection.  Also explains why you have PBR in your basket instead of Coors Light.

Have fun at the CLR guys, I know it might not be the same without Bob@#.  I wish I could be there.
