OK- New "to me" Com PAC 16 ll. Its a 93 in stunning condition- just bought it from a very nice couple near Bar Harbor Maine. Looks like the previous owner spent a couple of hours a day on maintenance!  Even the trailer lights work- and you KNOW how rare that is! Anyhow- after a 4 hour drive with the trailer behind me- I can't WAIT to slide it into a lake! All that said: I must ask the group- the dolphin striker cable under the extended bow pulpit has quite a bit of play. It is on securely and the previous owner suggested that it tightens up under sail. I see an obvious solution to getting it tighter with a new hole but thought I might toss the question out there as my introductory question!  Gary - NH

Congrats on your new yacht. I think the bob stay should have some tension when the fore stay and shrouds are set. I try to tension the rig so the mast is vertical and the bow sprit in line with the rake of the toe rail along the bow.
You may want to launch before making big adjustments. I think the hull flexes some when launched, so adjustments on the trailer may not accomplish what you want.
Great that you found a sweet 16...enjoy.
$UM FUN TOO

Thanks ~  Solid idea to wait and see what the bob stay (aka dolphin striker!)  looks like under sail. It may in fact be that with the shroud tension, hull flex under sail and headstay tension could tighten it up. Will test and report back.

ameysails

so we have a red/aegean blue C-P 16cb
that bow stay WILL tighten up with forestay and shroud fighting
YET
we slipped a 1/2" thick  by 6" long plastic wedge under the bow sprint and the metal
cap is the end of the hue bow.
This tightens up the bow stay and makes putting the forestay on and then tightening it...
otherwise the slack bow stay will only be tighten (longer turnbuckle time) at the same time
as the forestay

have fun

Thanks. Sounds like a pretty good idea and will serve to make attaching the jib stay easier. Will try that.
