Just a short (4+ mins) video from a couple of days back. Out sailing reefed down.

Great vid!!  My boat's been in the water about 3 weeks, and still too cold and windy.  Looking forward to shooting some vids and some drone vids this year of the HDC.

BTW, what were the winds?  I still have not reefed, and we have done fine in 15-20 knots.

I'm guessing around 18 kn with occasional gusts. The reef keeps the Admiral happier and makes it easier to concentrate on waving a camera around on a long stick.
There is actually a bigger difference than people might think between 15 and 20 knots. The static wind load goes up by almost 1.8 times as you go from 15 kn to 20 kn because of the v2 in the equation.
Generally, if I'm out there when it gets up I probably wouldn't reef unless it got much stronger, but if it's windy when I leave, I prefer to have the reef in already. I find it easier to shake out a reef in decreasing wind than it is to put one in with increasing wind.

Cheers,
Derek
