The passing of another sailor

I just found out from the the daughter of Ed Doran, aka Tadpole, that he died of a massive heart attack on April 2nd. I never met Ed, though we connected on this forum as we both own Compac 16's. His is for sale in the classified section, and I know his daughter indicated that the email links will be stopping shortly. I believe his phone number may be the landline there.

Life is just so fragile. I literally had spoken with him by phone on April 1 and received an email from him April 2nd in the afternoon. It appears he passed that evening. I will be glad to try and help coordinate any interest in his boat if the family so wishes as i am certain that the family would wish the sale to occur. If you go back a page in the classified section, you will find the original ad that has pics attached since his offer to send any will now clearly be impossible.

Go live life, it does not give do-overs.

I replied to the ad so it is now at the top of the listings. 16III still for sale.

Sorry to hear the news about Ed. We had a long conversation a few years ago when he acquired his boat, as I have the same year boat. He was excited to fix it up. From his photos, he certainly accomplished that very nicely.

Wow....it is tough seeing people that you know pass.  It seems like the older you get the more you see of it.

Hopefully he is up there sailing and smiling!

I might be the closest to Ed's boat if someone needs me to go take a look at it and get more pics.

I'm new to compacs and have never seen a 16, but I have a good idea of what makes a good boat.  From the posted pics, it looks good, but if someone needs specific things looked at, PM me.

We sail at GRand Lake, OK, which is about 2 hours north of Ed's boat.

I am very sorry to hear this. May he rest in peace.
