I've watched a few Youtube videos on the gathering in Cedar Key Florida. I'm interested in knowing in anyone is planning on attending this year?
Merry Christmas to all my Compac friends! Happy New Year!

Of course! 1st full weekend in May. This year Friday 5th - Sunday 7th.
Some come early and stay longer. Make reservations early at the many condo rentals, hotels, and B&B's on the island.
The WCTSS had a great Cedar Key meet in November and we'll be back in May.

Sounds fun! Thanks Ron for the feedback!
I will try to attend. Can someone give more particulars, fees etc. I am still getting my 19 ready and looking forward to learning to sail as I am a complete beginner.
I've recently been researching Cedar Key since my Mom and Stepdad just moved to Morriston, about an hour away. Hope to get down and visit soon, maybe in May. ;)
Hey Bob23 we need to visit, looks like a great place to row. :)

I've followed this for years. Now if I could just get this damn monkey called "work" off my back!
Yeah if it wasn't for work I had a great plan. There is a Com-Pac 16 for sale in Tallahassee for $1900. We fly down and buy the boat, rent a car and tow the boat to Cedar Key. Afterward we store the boat at my Mom's place in Morriston, fly back! :D
Umm, it does sound like a great plan. Have you decided where you'll flee to when the Admiral finds out about this plan?
In response to KSdavid,
RE: CEDAR KEY SMALL BOAT MEET
There are no fees and no planned activities on the water. Get yourself a room, or plan to camp on your boat. Saturday is the big day where everyone sails over to Atsena Otie Key and beaches their boats. Walk around introduce yourself, or just sit on the sand and enjoy the weather. Someone will suggest a sail over to another island, like Snake Key, or North Key. If you want to go, jump in your boat and go.
There is one event on Saturday night that ties the whole thing together at it's a pot luck dinner at the Community Center. The main course is catered, but if you want you bring a salad, dessert or side dish. The cost is $10/person at the door. No reservations or invitations needed. Very laid back. Afterward dinner there's a guest speaker.
Would like to see more ComPacs come to the event. It's roughly 100 miles north of Tampa out on the end of SR 24.

Ron,
Thanks for the info it sounds great. I haven't sailed before but always wanted to and I purchased a Compac 19 that I am in the process of painting right now. I'm about 180 miles to Cedar Key and will try to make it. If anyone going wants to offer some sailing lessons that would be good.
