Hi All, I am looking to size down from my 40ft (cruised for 12 yrs, now moved to shore) to a day sailer and the CP16 could be a good option. I like to know if the cockpit drains overboard? in other words, is it self bailing?
Yes, there are two scuppers that drain the cockpit through the stern (and will back up with water under the right circumstances, e.g., too much weight in the cockpit, etc.)

In this photo, you can see the water from the hose (left) being run in the cockpit draining out the back (I was testing the scuppers after re-sealing the deck). Blue paint indicates waterline. However, as mentioned, with a lot of weight in back, the scuppers will go underwater.

Rod - The drains do work very well. As far as water re-entering the cockpit, it'll leave just as quickly. Also, you can install flaps to help keep the water out if necessary. Bear in mind that the cockpit drains do not drain the "bilge" which includes the cabin. Please check the drain piping to insure that the joints don't leak. If they leak, the water will go into the aforementioned "bilge". Believe me, I know!
