Title: Matching topside paint color to striping tape.
Post by: Reighnman on November 13, 2016, 07:40:34 AM
To the ire of some traditionalist who like the brown coving, I'm going to paint it blue. I've been to my local store and asked if any type of topside paint has a matching striping tape, to which they responded No. Actually the guy told me to just paint a boot stripe as it'll be easier to repair when I scuff against things. I'm not sold on all that additional work yet.  So, anyone have luck matching topside paint to a striping tape? The internet is a dangerous place to pick colors as every monitor will show colors differently. I have the interlux paint chart so i'm guessing my best option will be the AC Boat Show in Feb. were I can see many tapes in person.

Sorry, no experience with the matching, but I too painted the brown coving blue. Excellent decision!

What did you do about the brown boot stripe?

The previous owner had removed or painted over the boot stripe with bottom paint so I just left it as it was. Maybe I'll try to match at a future date, but not a high priority for me.
