first, i want to again thank all those sailors that attended this years CLR. we had precious little wind and it was pretty hot but i think everyone had a pretty good time. anyway, i will take this opportunity to ask for input (constructive criticism) regarding the event. i welcome any suggestions that you feel will make next years rendezvous better. fair winds and calm seas
Although we weren't able to attend this year's CLR, I've always thought it was too hot. I'd like to see it pushed up or back when the wind is better and temps not so high. I know our lake up north is still warm enough to swim in come sept.

we have talked about it. granted all of our kids are grown so school going on isnt really a problem. it would be a problem for younger sailors (which we really havent seen) but you are right the wind is better and the water hasnt really cooled. regarding the races, next year the course will be shorter so sailors could see the marks easier. it will entail more laps however. early September might be doable. what does everyone else think?
I am up for anything! I enjoyed sweating with friends - could be the name of new book. hmm
Once Labor day is over we usually do a camping trip but could just as easily head to Carlyle. I am around until November when we expect to head South for a month. June is also a nice sailing month - usually. Water is not as warm for swimming but sailing winds are usually decent.
I'm already planning to be there and I know I'll be faced with having to make up for my absence at this years event. Early September is fine for me. I'm not familiar with the weather patterns at your lake but maybe it's a bit cooler and windier then. I'd be all for it.

i think we will alter the dates for next years rendezvous. also i get the feeling that everyone isnt into the racing thing, so next year we may only have just the clr cup race. i was thinking that we should have a day of cruising as a group. with that in mind, maybe we could sail as a fleet north to the first silo, round it and head west to a very good raft up spot (better than the one on the south side) with a perfect sand bottom. this is the spot that we take our granddaughter. you could even do some fishing here as well. if the wind is from the west it becomes an easy beam reach both coming and going. every year i talk about a night sail. this year we had cloud cover every night so navigation would have been a problem. next year if we get good conditions we might sail at night. rest assured that no one is obligated to sail at night or even participate in the race. the whole idea is to meet new people (sailors), spend time on the water and have a good time. i value you suggestions
night sails are best when the moon is full.
sept 6, 2017 will be a full moon.

i will mark my calender . we have been thinking about doing an overnighter
i like the idea.
sail to the north end of the lake, find a cove to drop anchor and spend the night.
a breakfast cooking on the water always smells better, and tastes best when enjoyed in a cockpit.

im for a night on the hook. Sarah. thats another story
I am in too but a strong no for Carol.... No surprise there
sarah might do it if we had a 54 ft beneteau
this could work to everyone's advantage.
we sail and spend the night, while the wives have a "girls night out".

a concept worth selling. question is how to sell it without making them feel "ditched". this requires much thought
I'm in!!!! I'll be sailing solo...no Admiral!!!! I love night sailing!!!

I just came back from Bayfield, Wisconsin and had two nights of wonderful night sailing. If you plan on a night sail have the CLR during a full moon, it's great.
matt and i sailed yesterday on carlyle. fantastic day. we talked about "rounding the silo" and about changing the dates either to june or sept. i think in leu of a pursuit race we could sail as a fleet and "round the silo" if the wind is from the west or southwest. north wind would make for a long beat. yesterday we had maybe 13 or 14 knot winds out the the west so sailing the length of the lake took no time at all. so much depends on the weather. june can be stormy and september provides better wind sometimes too much. and if we get a full moon in there we will sail at night. a great experience for anyone who hasnt done it
Kick I was down at CSA yesterday, I will be putting in there for a week this month, anyway Bob heard about the clr and saw us all sailing. He indicated he would love to host the event at the club. Might be a good change, located more centrally on the lake, air conditioned clubhouse and pavilion with large grills, we would basically have the club to ourselves midweek. I am paying $10 a day for a slip and the grounds are fenced and gated. Just a thought.
I am up for anything but consider the lack of accommodations available at the club vrs the walking distance to the motel and restaurant from the marina to be a negative. Since Carol came along this year, it was nice being able to walk to the boat leaving her the vehicle. Just one variable to consider. If I am by myself I will sleep in the boat and it will not matter.
yes that is a consideration and probably worth the extra 10 bucks a night. i havent talked to the harbormaster at csa yet anyway
well kickingbug, it's almost that time of year when work asks us to submit our vacation picks.
i always make CLR my 1st of the allotted 3 choices, so what week are we looking at for CLR 2017?
