The Hull speed is 6 knots.  The compac 23 has a long water line and that helps her sustain a higher hull speed.

I have seen that and some more a few times.  The more comes from surfing and tidal boosts.  I will say that I have hit over 9 knots surfing big waves going into the Pax River.

This past trip I saw some long periods of over 6 knots because I was flying the chute with a tidal boost.

The officially calculated hull speed for a CP23 is 6.02 knots.

Hull speed in kts = 1.34 * square root of LWL in feet.  Shorter boats have lower hull speeds.

Nope, you guys are all wet over this one. Hull speed is a function of the skipper's temperament, the less patient the skipper the slower the boat. That's the real reason behind the popularity of motorboats. So rejoice, brothers, we get to spend more time with our slow but trusty craft. Just remember that when you get home you're just doing chores, so what's the rush?

Well that's it then, I was wondering.  The older I've gotten the faster my boat seems to get.:)
