i know that radio communication between boats at the clr has been problematic at best but here are the options. 1) the cheap "walkie talkies" 2) vhf 3)cell phones. speaking of cell phones i need Ron and Tim's cell phone # (each boat will get a list of sailors, boat names and cell phone nimbers). Ron and Tim you can e mail those to me at fordtruck52@yahoo.
Wouldn't VHF make the most sense?

ok, i can't believe i'm typing this, but here goes...i agree with...bob.
ouch! that was not easy, but he is right. vhf's make the most sense. cell phones don't reach everyone if that need arises, and an fmrs/gms radios cost the same as a handheld vhf.

See? It wasn't that bad now was it.
I also believe VHF Marine to be the best choice but does everyone own one? I will have mine along (it is in the boat), but will also have my trusty cell phone.... Either way, easy peezey. Really looking forward to CLR. BTW, who is in charge of the weather? Looking for 80 degrees, partly sunny and 12 mph steady winds.... but will accept anything. LOL Still arriving with the boat on the 13th, drop boat, drive to Houston for a conference that I am teaching at, back on the Sunday before CLR to put Off the Wind in the water late afternoon. Staying at the motel. Sail On everyone....
Have VHF and Cell, VHF would be my choice, then every one can hear what's going on. Looking forward to the get together, it sounds like you have some good things planned. People how are staying on there boat might want to bring a fan and drop cord, I borrowed one last year and it made a big difference.

now i have to figure out my handheld vhf. havent yet, At give us a yell and we can maybe have dinner or drinks on the 13th. if its drinks ill bring a cooler of beer.
Just passing through on the 13th to drop off the boat. Wife has scheduled 30 minutes and then we have to be on the road. LOL Thanks and a rain check is a plus....
