Now that I'm able to download digitals to the site, below is the modification I made to the new foiled rudder for Mudlark to better lock it into the down position
-I drilled through thru the locking tab into the aluminum rudder housing and then threaded the hole with the same tap used for the screws to hold the tab in place.
-I bought a thumbscrew to fit the thread and drilled a hole in the fat part of the screw.
-When the thumbscrew is tightened, the rudder is locked.
-I replaced one of the tab screws with an eyelet screw and will run a line from the eyelet to the thumbscrew to rescue the thumbscrew that I will inevitably drop.
I've am still thinking through a better way to hold the rudder in the up position. Any takers?
I disabled the kick-up feature by pinning it with a drilled hole and a pin. Full down and a bit under the transom.
