I would like to name my 23/IV, but can't decide where to place the name. Any thoughts?
The traditional place is far too busy with motor, rudder, boarding ladder, and various scupper drains and electrical/fuel holes that most 23's I've seen move the name to this location:

I like having the name on the back of the boat.

Heavetoo,
Is that a solar panel?
Yes. That is my small 5 watt one that I put up when not on the boat.
I have a flexible solar panel that I use when I am cruising. The flexible one is 100 watts

i have to say that i think the name should be on the transom if there is room. i am partial to "women's" names
What are you naming her? The length of the name may be a factor on placement.
I couldn't fit the name on the transom. It looks correct on the side.

Do you put the name on both sides? If not, which side?
Both sides for me.
Bob23
If you decide to use the side put the name on both sides. Also move it more toward the aft end of the cockpit. If its In the middle of the boat it may get damaged or rubbed of from the fenders when docked.
My boats nearly all had the name on the stern quarter. Bold lettering not too fancy so it is legible and high enough that it can be read from a distance.
Tom L.
Port and starboard, aft section.
Computer cut lettering on stick on.
Hint ... float it on to the area where you want it over a mass of bubbles from dish-washing liquid soap and then squeeze out the solution starting from the center out.
