I'm considering an older Com-Pac 23 for mostly daysailing in Buzzards Bay and am interested in hearing thoughts on how it will handle the almost daily chop, winds often in the 15-20 kt range, etc. Also, comfortable seating for 4 people? Had been thinking about a Horizon Cat, but prices are too high. Thx.
I've got a CP 19 for the same location. I sail out of Kingman's in Cataumet. Most of the time I sail from Redbrook Harbor across to Wareham. I'm very happy with the way the 19 handles. I don't hesitate to go out as long as the winds are under 25. Crossing the Bay works out great since the SW winds allows you to be close hauled to beam reach. In addition, most times I'm taking the chop on a 45ยบ angle. I think the 23 would handle the conditions with ease. Can't answer whether the cockpit is good for 4. I've had 2 others with me and we've been comfortable.

I've thought about a 19, but I've read that the hull shape doesn't handle chop well. Also, I'd like to be able to seat four people in the cockpit and I'm guessing the 19 would be a little cramped.
My 19 has a bigger cockpit than a27. 7+ ft. I was gifted by Deisher a set of his 27's cockpit cushions that are 6" shorter than my 19's benches. Plenty of room. More than an Eclipse.
