Hi! We purchased our Compac 16 named Gumdrop in September of 2014. She is a 1987 Compac II. We have upgraded to a Ruddercraft rudder and we love it. We're in the process of moving our mainsheet to the front of the cockpit (has anyone done this?).

Welcome Gumdrop! A great name! Are you a true newbie or have you been lurking as many do before throwing in with this narly lot of wharf rats? Either way, glad you are here and look forward to you pictures. Not sure exactly what you mean about mainsheet relocation or why. I'm sure it has been or can be done with mid boom sheeting.

The pictures you want to show on CPYOA must come from a OFF LINE photo sharing site. There are many. I picked PHOTOBUCKET for my 1100+ pictures. First you must scan a picture from camera or printer and upload it to your Photobucket account. It's free to use this PHOTOBUCKET.
Each picture on Photobucket will display a pull down menu when the mouse's cursor is parked on the picture that you want to show on CPYOA.
Read the menu. Pull the cursor down to the DIRECT CODE found under the picture. Click on the DIRECT CODE, it will show the word 'COPIED' an the word will fade away. Not necessary, but as a precaution, I always go up on click on EDIT and COPY, just to be sure the DIRECT CODE was copied.
Minimize this window. Bring up the post that you want to put a picture into.
ABOVE every box or post that you typed a message into are two lines of icons.
Bottom Line, second from left going to the right you'll see a picture [it's to the right of what looks like a round red/blue pinwheel.] The icon you want kind of looks like a beach with a hill and some trees, blue sky. Click on that.
In your post you'll see something like this [ img ] [ i m g ] the space between the two [ ] * [ ] is where you PASTE the DIRECT CODE * that you copied.
It's actually pretty hard to place the blinking cursor 'tween the two box's if your old like me. If you don't get ALL of the DIRECT CODE into the right spot you'll only see a square box with a red X in it after you push post and go back and look~see at what the message to the group looks like.
Multiple pics can be posted by going back up to the 'Beach Icon' and selecting and coping and pasting another DIRECT CODE from the PHOTOBUCKET album .

Since taking the photos, we've painted the top white and are debating on a color for the bottom. Updates to come!
Thank you for those telling photos. They brought back memories from when my wife and I bought our 16, our first boat. I hope you find her as as pleasing as we. Could be the launch of another hopelessly addicted sailor.

I have a CP 23 mk II 1987 that I purchased last summer. The previous owner installed a mainsheet traveller just aft of the companionway entrance. Although it partially blocks the companionway, it adds some mainsail trim options and frees up the already crowded transom. One other benefit of this arrangement is that it automatically assigns one hand for tiller, one for main sheets. Whether I sail single handed or with crew, everying falls into place. It does help to have different coloured main and headsail sheets (so that when they are all in a pile, you can differentiate). Hope that helps.
